What is Fukusenji Temple?
Fukusenji Temple is a buddhist temple of the Shingon sect that was built in 1912. It is located approximately in the center of Iwate, Many people visit there to make wishes.
There are two sacred places in the precincts of this temple, and it takes 2 hours to go all around.
There is the largest Japan’s statue of Kannon as a wood carving. In addition, Fukusenji Temple is also famous for cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring and autumn leaves in autumn.

Dai Kannon-do Hall
The largest Japan’s statue of Kannon as a wood carving is enshrined in Dai Kannon-do Hall. A 1200 year old tree is used for this Kannon, The size is 17m!
The priest had fasted 100 times a week and made it over 20 years. The powerful appearance of this Kannon is a masterpiece.
Five-story pagoda
Five-story pagoda of Fukusenji temple is filled with wishes of world peace and a state of protection. It was built in 1990 after spending 8 years.
Tahoto pagoda
Tahoto pagoda that contains a wish to return the Northern Territories was built in 1982 after spending 4 years. Shitenno and Godai Son Myoo are enshrined inside this pagoda.
Worship
Fukusenji Temple is also famous for cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring and autumn leaves in autumn. It is also recommended to take a walk while worshiping.
After all there was Tono’s specialty Kappa in the pond. The pond is surrounded by nature, so it is a very calm place.
