What is Senmaya Sakenokura Community Facilities?

Senmaya, Ichinoseki City was named after the 1,000 stables built by Fujiwara Oshu clan who used to govern the Hiraizumi area which was once known as a production area for good horses.
Senmaya Sakenokura Community Facilities in Senmaya is a facility where you can feel the the atmosphere of the Taisho era.
It’s also a tourism and cultural exchange facility, and it utilizes the “former Yokoya Sake Brewery/Sato Family House,” which is a tangible cultural property of the nation with 25 buildings constructed from the Meiji to Taisho eras.
The Western-style building and main building of a Japanese-style made of keyaki are a symbol of the entire facility with a harmony of Japanese and Western architectural styles.The facility can be visited and invites you to the Taisho era.
In addition, an events is also held there. Above all, the “Senmaya Hina Matsuri” which is held for a month from early February every year is a great place to see the decorations inside the main building.

After passing through the gate, you will be welcomed by a building that leaves a strong impression of the Taisho era. The inside of the facility is quiet and very calm.
The building is built according to the construction method of Japanese houses, but a Western-style architecture has also been added to the building, so It’s a building in which the Japanese and Western styles are well harmonized.
The main designer was Yusuke Ohara who has a background of studying under Kingo Tatsuno who is known for designing Tokyo Station and the Bank of Japan head office, so this building has his design features.
It is said that the delicate workmanships inside the building were made by “Kesen Carpenter”. Those are also a highlight.
The breeze that blows in, the view from the window, and the sunlight that shines through the window make the historical building a more atmospheric sight.
