What is Stone and Kenji museum?

Stone and Kenji museum is in Higashiyama, Ichinoseki city.
Many minerals are displayed at this museum after Kenji Miyazawa. And you can also see the factory where he worked as an engineer.

The relations between Kenji Miyazawa and Higashiyama town

In 1929, Tozo Suzuki who is a owner of Tohoku-saiseki-factory visited Kenji Miyazawa to hear management advice.
Because Tohoku-saiseki-factory produced lime stone powder to improve the soil in Higashiyama town, but management was deteriorating.
Kenji Miyazawa decided to cooperate with him.Then they Started to exchange letters with each other. In the spring of 1931, Kenji Miyazawa decided working at this factory because his physical condition improved.
He did sales activity in each place with a over 20kg bag containing materials. Meanwhile, he visited this factory 7 times.
However, he fainted due to an illness and went back home to recuperate, but he continued the exchange with the letter.
The Life of Budori Gusuko is fairy tale that he was working in this factory. And Ame ni mo Makezu was written in the notebook that it was found in the bag he used in salse.
There is a monument of Kenji Miyazawa built by local young people at Higashiyama town.
Higashiyama town is relevant for the latter half of his life.
